The Skyward Journey of Krishna

In a village nestled among the towering mountains, there lived a boy named Krishna. At just ten years old, he possessed an extraordinary gift—the ability to fly. Each morning, he would soar above the world, feeling the cool breeze against his face and witnessing the beauty of nature from heights that only birds could reach. The mountains, with their majestic peaks and valleys, were not merely a backdrop; they were his friends, sharing their secrets and whispers with him as he danced among the clouds.

One morning, as the sun cast golden rays across the landscape, Krishna decided to explore beyond his familiar peaks. He remembered a story he had heard from his grandmother about his dear friend Sudama, a humble Brahmin who lived far away. "I must see him," Krishna thought. "No matter how high I fly, I will never forget my friends."

Sudama, clad in worn-out clothes and lacking the luxuries of life, was often overshadowed by his wealthier peers. His heart was rich, filled with devotion and love for Krishna, even though he had not seen him since childhood. One day, Sudama's wife encouraged him, “With Krishna now a king, perhaps if you visit him, he will help us in our time of need.” But Sudama hesitated; he felt unworthy. “I won’t ask for anything, only to see my old friend,” he resolved, taking a handful of poha, rice flakes, as a humble gift for Krishna.

With trepidation, Sudama began his journey to Dwarka. Little did he know that Krishna, perched high above the mountains, had spotted his old friend from the sky. Krishna’s heart leaped. He dove toward the ground, racing to embrace Sudama, a sparkling smile illuminating his face.

“Sudama! My long-lost friend!” Krishna exclaimed, wrapping his arms around Sudama with joy so pure it melted the worries of the world. The courtiers in the royal court gasped in disbelief at the sight of their king honoring a poor Brahmin. “How can He be so humble?” they whispered among themselves.

As a gesture of love, Krishna washed his friend's feet and placed the dust upon his forehead, proclaiming, “Sudama, how could I forget you? Your poha is worth more to me than riches!” Sudama found himself overwhelmed with gratitude; he had come with nothing but returned home with the warmth of brotherhood.

When Sudama reached his humble home, he discovered that it had transformed into a beautiful palace, luxurious and filled with the comforts he once dreamt of. Krishna had provided for him without a word spoken.

In that moment, Sudama realized that true friendship transcends material wealth. It resides in the heart, where love and respect grow, much like the mountains cradle the world. Krishna soared above the peaks, knowing that kindness, like flight, lifts everyone higher.

And so, the tale of Krishna and Sudama became a cherished story whispered among the villagers, reminding them all that true wealth lies in love and friendship—an invaluable treasure that can never be forgotten.
